Cadair Idris

Just half an hours drive from Rhianfa House is the mountain Cadair (Cader) Idris which is a popular peak to climb in the Snowdonia region. Although not as high as Snowdon, Cadair Idris is known for its steep and rocky terrain so you will need to have appropriate footwear. It can take anywhere between 4-7 hours to get to the summit (Penygadair) and back down so take plenty of food and water. Also make sure you take plenty of layers as the weather can change quickly. Along the way there will be specular views, from the Mawddach Estuary going out towards the sea as well as 360 views of Snowdonia. There are different paths to get to the top which vary from steepness and distance, however overall it is a challenging walk.
